FULL DOG GROOMING WESTFIELD
Dogs travelling from Westfield can visit Claire at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends in Battle for a Full Dog Groom carried out in a calm, one-to-one setting and tailored to the needs of their individual coat.
Claire considers more than simply how much hair needs to come off. Breed, coat texture, current condition, lifestyle, preferred appearance and the amount of maintenance manageable at home can all influence the most appropriate finished groom.
Each appointment takes your dog through the complete grooming process, from thoroughly preparing and cleaning the coat to drying, brushing, trimming and creating the final style.
The best groom balances the look you'd like with the practical needs of your dog's particular coat and lifestyle.
A Full Groom can include:
Two thorough washes using suitable grooming products
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing and coat preparation
Nail clipping
Face, feet and sanitary trimming
A complete haircut and styling
A finish adapted to coat type and condition
One-to-one attention from Claire
PUPPY GROOMING WESTFIELD
A puppy doesn't have to wait until they need a major haircut before meeting their groomer. For puppies from Westfield, Claire offers Puppy Grooming designed to introduce professional grooming while they're still becoming familiar with new experiences.
At Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, puppies can begin learning what it feels like to be brushed, bathed, dried and handled for grooming without the additional distractions of a busy salon.
Claire works one-to-one, allowing those introductions to be shaped around the puppy's age, coat and individual confidence.
For puppies whose coats will need regular professional attention, gradual exposure can help establish grooming as an ordinary part of their ongoing care.
Early appointments can introduce:
Gentle handling and brushing
Bathing and coat care
Warm blow drying
Standing on a grooming table
Grooming tools and their sounds
Face, feet and paw handling
Nail handling
Time with their regular groomer
A developing professional grooming routine
DOG BATH & TIDY WESTFIELD
If your dog's haircut still looks good but their coat is ready for some attention, another Full Groom may not yet be necessary.
Claire's Dog Bath & Tidy service gives dogs travelling from Westfield a professional maintenance option between complete grooms. The coat can be thoroughly cleaned, dried and brushed while areas that have become untidy are neatened where appropriate.
It helps bridge the gap between Full Grooms while preserving the overall length and shape you've chosen for your dog.
A Bath & Tidy concentrates on cleanliness, coat maintenance and the smaller details rather than completely restyling your dog.
Depending on your dog's needs, it can include:
Two thorough washes
Shampoo suited to the individual coat and skin
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing
Face and feet tidying
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
Individual one-to-one grooming
DOG TEETH CLEANING WESTFIELD
Dogs visiting Claire from Westfield can also receive Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning as part of the oral-hygiene services available at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends.
Emmi-pet combines ultrasonic technology with specialist toothpaste and works without conventional brushing or scrubbing. Its quiet operation also complements Claire's calm approach to one-to-one grooming.
The service provides owners with an option for incorporating ongoing oral hygiene into their dog's wider grooming and maintenance routine.
For owners who choose ongoing teeth cleaning, it can sit alongside coat, nail and other routine grooming maintenance rather than being considered entirely separately.
Claire's Emmi-pet service offers:
Ultrasonic teeth-cleaning technology
No conventional brushing or scrubbing
Specialist Emmi-pet toothpaste
Quiet operation
Ongoing oral-hygiene maintenance
Individual attention from Claire
Please note: Dog Teeth cleaning at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and is not a substitute for veterinary dental treatment. If your dog has signs of dental disease, significant tartar, bleeding or painful gums, loose or damaged teeth, swelling or other concerning symptoms, please seek veterinary advice.
DOG NAIL CLIPPING WESTFIELD
Some dogs naturally keep their nails shorter through everyday activity, while others need more regular professional attention.
Claire offers Dog Nail Clipping for dogs from Westfield during their regular grooming appointments or through a smaller maintenance visit where available.
Rather than clipping automatically at a set interval, Claire can check your dog's current nail length and provide the maintenance that's actually required.
Natural wear varies between dogs, meaning activity, individual nail growth and the surfaces they regularly walk on can all influence how frequently nails need attention.
Nail care can include:
Checking current nail length
Careful clipping where required
Nail checks during regular grooms
Smaller maintenance appointments where available
Patient one-to-one handling
Ongoing monitoring between grooming visits
DOG SPA TREATMENTS WESTFIELD
Professional grooming can take care of the essentials while still leaving room for a little extra pampering.
For dogs travelling from Westfield, Claire offers Signature Spa and additional grooming treatments that can be added to appropriate grooming appointments at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends.
These optional extras allow coat care and finishing treatments to be personalised around the dog, giving owners the flexibility to make their usual grooming visit a little more special.
Claire's additional treatments can complement the main grooming service you've chosen without changing the calm, individual nature of the appointment.
Options can include:
Signature Spa treatments
Additional coat-care options
Grooming extras
Finishing touches
Products appropriate for the individual dog
Smaller maintenance treatments
One-to-one attention from Claire
DOG FACIAL, FEET & PAW TIDYING WESTFIELD
A dog's coat doesn't always grow evenly, and the areas around the face, feet and paws can start looking untidy while the rest of the groom still has plenty of time left in it.
Claire offers facial, feet, paw and sanitary tidying for dogs travelling from Westfield, providing targeted maintenance without automatically taking length from the entire coat.
These smaller treatments can be particularly useful for keeping the details of a groom neat between complete appointments.
Where the main coat doesn't yet require another haircut, Claire can concentrate on the specific areas that need attention.
This can include:
Facial trimming and tidying
Tidying around the face where appropriate
Feet and paw trimming
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
Additional smaller grooming treatments
Coat-care advice between appointments
NERVOUS DOG GROOMING WESTFIELD
For a nervous or anxious dog, being able to receive grooming without the constant movement, noise and presence of several other dogs may be an important consideration when choosing a groomer.
Claire welcomes nervous dogs from Westfield to Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, where appointments take place one-to-one in her peaceful Battle grooming cottage.
This gives Claire time to concentrate on the individual dog, observe their response and adapt her handling where appropriate. Returning to the same groomer and environment can also provide valuable familiarity for dogs who are less comfortable with change.
Every nervous dog is different, but Claire's one-to-one setup removes some of the additional activity associated with a busy multi-dog salon.
Her approach provides:
One-to-one grooming appointments
A peaceful cottage environment
No busy multi-dog waiting room
Patient, individual handling
An approach responsive to the dog
The same groomer on return visits
Familiar surroundings
Claire's focused attention throughout

Yes. Claire offers gentle Puppy Grooming to help introduce young dogs to professional grooming from an early age. Puppy appointments are designed to build familiarity with handling, brushing, bathing, drying and grooming equipment in a calm, positive environment.
We have two Puppy Packages; a Small Breed and a Medium Breed package. Please visit our Puppy Pricing or contact Claire for personalised advice.
I recommend introducing puppies to grooming as early as possible, ideally once they are fully vaccinated and able to go on walks
— usually around 3 to 4 months of age.
The earlier your puppy begins their grooming journey, the easier and more positive the experience is likely to be for them in the
future. Early introductions help puppies become familiar with bathing, drying, brushing, handling, and the sounds and sensations
involved in grooming.
I ideally like to see puppies every 2–3 weeks during their first 6 months, allowing me to gently build their confidence and help them
become relaxed, happy, and comfortable with the grooming process at their own pace.
My calm, one-to-one approach focuses on creating positive experiences filled with patience, reassurance, cuddles, and gentle
handling — helping your puppy grow into a confident little salon visitor for years to come.
Yes. Claire offers Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning to support your dog's ongoing oral hygiene. The system uses ultrasonic technology with specialist toothpaste and works without conventional mechanical brushing or scrubbing.
Dog teeth cleaning is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and does not replace veterinary dental treatment.
Yes. Claire offers Dog Bath & Tidy appointments for dogs that need bathing, brushing and freshening up without another complete haircut. A Bath & Tidy can also include nail clipping and tidying around the face, feet and sanitary areas where needed, helping keep your dog's coat clean, comfortable and manageable between Full Grooms.
Yes. Claire also offers smaller grooming treatments including dog nail clipping and face, feet, paw and sanitary tidying, helping keep your dog comfortable and well maintained between larger grooming appointments.
Absolutely. We specialise in calm, one-to-one grooming and take time to help anxious dogs feel comfortable. Let's book a meet and greet and discuss your dog's needs further.
Every dog is different, so grooming times can vary depending on your dog’s coat condition, temperament, age, and individual
needs.
As a general guide:
Bath & Tidy Appointments / Puppy Intro Sessions: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
Full Grooms & Premium Pamper Appointments: approximately 2.5 to 4 hours
I work on a calm, one-to-one basis and never rush appointments. Some dogs are naturally relaxed and enjoy the grooming
process, while others — particularly elderly, anxious, or nervous dogs — may need additional comfort breaks, rest periods, reassurance, or extra time to settle.
Your dog’s comfort and wellbeing will always be far more important to me than rushing through an appointment.
As soon as your dog’s groom is completed, I will contact you to arrange collection.
Please kindly avoid arriving early or waiting outside the salon, as many dogs become excited when they see their owners and this can increase anxiety or make it difficult for them to settle and finish their groom calmly.
You can also check out our Places to Visit page to explore the lovely historic town of Battle if you choose to do so.
Your dog’s comfort, health, and wellbeing will always come first. Severely matted coats can be extremely uncomfortable and, in
some cases, painful for dogs, often pulling tightly on the skin and restricting airflow.
For this reason, heavily matted coats may need to be clipped short or fully shaved in the interest of your dog’s welfare.
Please note that de-matting is not included within the standard grooming price and is charged at £1 per minute. This additional fee
helps cover the extra time required, along with the increased wear and tear placed on grooming equipment.
Many breeds — particularly curly and long-coated breeds such as Cockapoos — are naturally prone to matting and require regular
brushing and coat maintenance at home between grooming appointments.
Where possible, I will always try to preserve your dog’s coat. However, under the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act, prolonged
or severe matting can be considered a welfare issue and removing the coat may sometimes be the kindest and safest option.
I will always discuss this with you fully before proceeding and gain your consent prior to clipping or shaving a matted coat. I am also
happy to offer advice on home grooming routines, brushing techniques, and future coat maintenance to help achieve the style and
coat condition you would like for your dog.
Please note that severely matted dogs may require additional time and, in some cases, more than one grooming appointment.
