PROFESSIONAL DOG GROOMING RYE
Looking for a dog groomer near Rye doesn't always mean your dog needs a complete haircut. Their next appointment might be for coat maintenance, bathing, a puppy introduction, nail clipping or simply tidying the areas that grow quickest.
Claire welcomes dogs travelling from Rye to Cockapoo Cottage & Friends in Battle, with a range of grooming services delivered one-to-one in her peaceful cottage environment.
Nail Clipping
Face, Feet & Paw Tidying
Sanitary Trimming
Signature Spa & Pampering Treatments
Between-Groom Coat Maintenance
Calm One-to-One Grooming for Nervous Dogs
Whether your search is for a dog haircut near Rye, puppy grooming, professional bathing, dog clipping or smaller coat and nail maintenance, Claire can help you choose an appropriate appointment for your dog.
FULL DOG GROOMING RYE
Dogs travelling from Rye can visit Claire at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends in Battle for Full Dog Grooming that combines thorough coat preparation with an individually tailored haircut and finish.
Claire looks at the dog and coat in front of her rather than working from a standard style. Breed and coat type matter, but so do the coat's current condition, your dog's lifestyle, the length you'd like to maintain and what will be realistic for you to look after between professional appointments.
From the initial bath and brush-through to the final trim, your dog is groomed one-to-one with Claire in her peaceful cottage setting.
The finished style is only one part of a complete groom. Thoroughly washing, drying, brushing and preparing the coat gives Claire the foundation from which to create an appropriate finished style.
Depending on your dog's coat and requirements, a Full Groom can include:
Two thorough washes using appropriate grooming products
Warm blow drying
Complete brushing and coat preparation
Nail clipping
Face, feet and sanitary trimming
A complete styled haircut
A finish tailored to your preferences and your dog's coat
One-to-one attention throughout
PUPPY GROOMING RYE
For puppies from Rye who will need professional coat care as they grow, Claire offers Puppy Grooming designed to introduce the grooming process before it simply becomes something they encounter when a full haircut is needed.
At Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, young dogs can begin becoming familiar with Claire, being handled away from home and the equipment, sounds and sensations associated with grooming.
Because appointments are one-to-one, Claire can pay attention to how each puppy responds and adapt their introduction rather than expecting every puppy to manage the same experience at the same pace.
Starting early gives a puppy the opportunity to encounter individual parts of the grooming process while they're still learning about new experiences.
Puppy Grooming can introduce:
Gentle brushing and coat handling
Bathing
Warm drying
Standing on a grooming table
Grooming tools and equipment
Face, feet and paw handling
Spending time with their professional groomer
The beginnings of a regular grooming routine
DOG BATH & TIDY RYE
Your dog doesn't necessarily need another complete haircut just because their coat is beginning to lose that freshly groomed appearance.
For dogs visiting from Rye, Claire's Dog Bath & Tidy service provides professional coat maintenance between Full Grooms, refreshing the coat while keeping its existing overall length and style.
After thorough washing, drying and brushing, Claire can tidy areas such as the face, feet and sanitary area where needed, helping your dog look neat again without carrying out an unnecessary complete restyle.
If the overall coat length still suits your dog but they need a professional clean, brush and tidy, this can be a useful alternative to booking another Full Groom too soon.
A Bath & Tidy can include:
Two thorough washes
Coat and skin-appropriate grooming products
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing
Face and feet tidying
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
Individual one-to-one care
DOG TEETH CLEANING RYE
Owners travelling from Rye can also speak to Claire about Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning, offered at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends as an oral-hygiene grooming service.
The Emmi-pet system uses ultrasound together with specialist toothpaste, without the conventional brushing and scrubbing action of a standard toothbrush. It also operates quietly, which complements the calmer style of grooming Claire provides.
This gives owners the option of incorporating oral-hygiene maintenance alongside the other elements of their dog's regular grooming care.
Rather than mechanically brushing the teeth, the Emmi-pet system uses its ultrasonic technology together with its specialist toothpaste as part of an ongoing oral-hygiene routine.
Claire's service offers:
Emmi-pet ultrasonic technology
No conventional brushing
No conventional scrubbing
Specialist toothpaste
Quiet operation
Ongoing oral-hygiene maintenance
Individual attention with Claire
Please note: Teeth cleaning at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and is not a substitute for veterinary dental treatment. If your dog has signs of dental disease, significant tartar, bleeding or painful gums, loose or damaged teeth, swelling or other concerning symptoms, please seek veterinary advice.
DOG NAIL CLIPPING RYE
Nails are another part of grooming that can easily need attention on a different schedule from the coat.
Claire provides Dog Nail Clipping for dogs travelling from Rye, either during their usual grooming appointment or through a smaller maintenance visit where available.
Because dogs vary in how quickly their nails grow and how much they wear them naturally, Claire can check their current length and trim according to the individual dog's needs rather than applying one fixed clipping schedule.
Regularly checking nail length makes it easier to respond to your individual dog's rate of growth and natural wear.
Nail care with Claire can include:
Checking your dog's nail length
Careful trimming when required
Nail clipping incorporated into regular grooms
Smaller maintenance appointments where available
Patient one-to-one handling
Ongoing nail monitoring
DOG SPA TREATMENTS RYE
A regular groom takes care of the essentials, but owners travelling from Rye can also choose from Claire's Signature Spa and additional grooming treatments when they'd like to add a little extra care to their dog's appointment.
These optional treatments sit alongside Full Grooms, Bath & Tidy appointments and Claire's other services, allowing the visit to be personalised around the individual dog's coat and grooming needs.
The aim isn't to add unnecessary treatments, but to give owners a choice of additional coat-care and pampering options when appropriate.
Additional treatments allow a regular groom to include extra care and finishing touches while your dog remains with the same groomer in the same one-to-one environment.
Available options can include:
Signature Spa treatments
Additional coat-care options
Grooming extras
Finishing treatments
Products chosen for the individual dog
Smaller grooming services
Claire's one-to-one attention
DOG FACIAL, FEET & PAW TIDYING RYE
The overall coat can still look just right while hair around your dog's face, feet or paws starts to need attention.
Claire welcomes dogs from Rye for facial, feet, paw and sanitary tidying, giving owners a way to maintain these quicker-growing areas without automatically booking another complete haircut.
Smaller maintenance treatments can also be useful for keeping your dog's appearance neat as part of the grooming routine you've established between Full Grooms.
Additional treatments allow a regular groom to include extra care and finishing touches while your dog remains with the same groomer in the same one-to-one environment.
Available options can include:
Signature Spa treatments
Additional coat-care options
Grooming extras
Finishing treatments
Products chosen for the individual dog
Smaller grooming services
Claire's one-to-one attention
NERVOUS DOG GROOMING RYE
Finding a groomer isn't always simply about choosing whoever is closest. For an owner whose dog finds grooming stressful or overwhelming, the type of environment and the way appointments are handled may be particularly important.
Claire welcomes nervous and anxious dogs travelling from Rye to her peaceful grooming cottage in Battle, where appointments are provided one-to-one without a busy room of dogs being groomed alongside them.
This allows Claire to concentrate on the individual dog, observe how they're responding and adapt her approach where appropriate. Over repeat visits, dogs also have the opportunity to become familiar with the same groomer and cottage environment.
For some dogs, reducing the activity and distractions surrounding their appointment can provide a calmer setting in which to be groomed.
At Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, Claire offers:
One-to-one grooming appointments
A quiet cottage setting
No busy multi-dog waiting area
Patient, individual handling
An approach responsive to the individual dog
Consistency with the same groomer
Individual attention throughout the visit

Yes. Claire offers gentle Puppy Grooming to help introduce young dogs to professional grooming from an early age. Puppy appointments are designed to build familiarity with handling, brushing, bathing, drying and grooming equipment in a calm, positive environment.
We have two Puppy Packages; a Small Breed and a Medium Breed package. Please visit our Puppy Pricing or contact Claire for personalised advice.
I recommend introducing puppies to grooming as early as possible, ideally once they are fully vaccinated and able to go on walks
— usually around 3 to 4 months of age.
The earlier your puppy begins their grooming journey, the easier and more positive the experience is likely to be for them in the
future. Early introductions help puppies become familiar with bathing, drying, brushing, handling, and the sounds and sensations
involved in grooming.
I ideally like to see puppies every 2–3 weeks during their first 6 months, allowing me to gently build their confidence and help them
become relaxed, happy, and comfortable with the grooming process at their own pace.
My calm, one-to-one approach focuses on creating positive experiences filled with patience, reassurance, cuddles, and gentle
handling — helping your puppy grow into a confident little salon visitor for years to come.
Yes. Claire offers Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning to support your dog's ongoing oral hygiene. The system uses ultrasonic technology with specialist toothpaste and works without conventional mechanical brushing or scrubbing.
Dog teeth cleaning is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and does not replace veterinary dental treatment.
Yes. Claire offers Dog Bath & Tidy appointments for dogs that need bathing, brushing and freshening up without another complete haircut. A Bath & Tidy can also include nail clipping and tidying around the face, feet and sanitary areas where needed, helping keep your dog's coat clean, comfortable and manageable between Full Grooms.
Yes. Claire also offers smaller grooming treatments including dog nail clipping and face, feet, paw and sanitary tidying, helping keep your dog comfortable and well maintained between larger grooming appointments.
Absolutely. We specialise in calm, one-to-one grooming and take time to help anxious dogs feel comfortable. Let's book a meet and greet and discuss your dog's needs further.
Every dog is different, so grooming times can vary depending on your dog’s coat condition, temperament, age, and individual
needs.
As a general guide:
Bath & Tidy Appointments / Puppy Intro Sessions: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
Full Grooms & Premium Pamper Appointments: approximately 2.5 to 4 hours
I work on a calm, one-to-one basis and never rush appointments. Some dogs are naturally relaxed and enjoy the grooming
process, while others — particularly elderly, anxious, or nervous dogs — may need additional comfort breaks, rest periods, reassurance, or extra time to settle.
Your dog’s comfort and wellbeing will always be far more important to me than rushing through an appointment.
As soon as your dog’s groom is completed, I will contact you to arrange collection.
Please kindly avoid arriving early or waiting outside the salon, as many dogs become excited when they see their owners and this can increase anxiety or make it difficult for them to settle and finish their groom calmly.
You can also check out our Places to Visit page to explore the lovely historic town of Battle if you choose to do so.
Your dog’s comfort, health, and wellbeing will always come first. Severely matted coats can be extremely uncomfortable and, in
some cases, painful for dogs, often pulling tightly on the skin and restricting airflow.
For this reason, heavily matted coats may need to be clipped short or fully shaved in the interest of your dog’s welfare.
Please note that de-matting is not included within the standard grooming price and is charged at £1 per minute. This additional fee
helps cover the extra time required, along with the increased wear and tear placed on grooming equipment.
Many breeds — particularly curly and long-coated breeds such as Cockapoos — are naturally prone to matting and require regular
brushing and coat maintenance at home between grooming appointments.
Where possible, I will always try to preserve your dog’s coat. However, under the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act, prolonged
or severe matting can be considered a welfare issue and removing the coat may sometimes be the kindest and safest option.
I will always discuss this with you fully before proceeding and gain your consent prior to clipping or shaving a matted coat. I am also
happy to offer advice on home grooming routines, brushing techniques, and future coat maintenance to help achieve the style and
coat condition you would like for your dog.
Please note that severely matted dogs may require additional time and, in some cases, more than one grooming appointment.
