FULL DOG GROOMING CATSFIELD
Dogs from Catsfield can visit Claire at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends in Battle for a Full Dog Groom where every stage of the appointment is tailored around the individual dog and their coat.
Claire looks at coat type, texture and current condition alongside your dog's breed, lifestyle and the style you'd like to maintain.
This helps determine both how the coat should be prepared and the most suitable finished length and shape, rather than applying the same grooming pattern to every dog.
With one-to-one appointments in Claire's peaceful grooming cottage, your dog receives her individual attention throughout the complete grooming process.
A good finish begins before the haircut itself. Washing, drying and preparing the coat are all part of creating a groom that suits the individual dog.
A Full Groom can include:
Two thorough washes with appropriate grooming products
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing and coat preparation
Nail clipping
Face, feet and sanitary trimming
Complete haircut and styling
A finish tailored to your dog's coat and lifestyle

PUPPY GROOMING CATSFIELD
For a young dog, even simple parts of professional grooming can be completely new. Claire welcomes puppies from Catsfield for Puppy Grooming appointments that allow them to begin discovering those experiences gradually.
Rather than waiting until a growing coat requires a substantial haircut, puppies can first become familiar with Claire, her grooming cottage, handling, brushes, bathing, drying and professional grooming equipment.
Because appointments are one-to-one, Claire can focus on the individual puppy and introduce grooming according to their confidence, age and coat-care needs.
Early grooming can be as much about familiarity as appearance, particularly for dogs who will require regular professional coat care throughout adulthood.
Claire can introduce your puppy to:
Gentle coat brushing and handling
Professional bathing
Warm drying
Standing on the grooming table
Grooming tools and sounds
Face and feet handling
Paw and nail handling
Spending individual time with Claire
Becoming familiar with future grooming appointments
DOG BATH & TIDY CATSFIELD
If muddy walks, everyday life or simply the passing weeks have left your dog's coat needing attention before their next haircut, Claire's Dog Bath & Tidy can provide a professional refresh.
Dogs travelling from Catsfield can have their coat thoroughly washed, dried and brushed at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, with smaller areas tidied where required.
The service is designed for dogs whose overall coat length is still suitable but who would benefit from professional coat maintenance before another Full Groom becomes necessary.
A Bath & Tidy lets Claire concentrate on cleaning, preparing and neatening the coat without unnecessarily changing its overall style.
Depending on your dog's requirements, this can include:
Two thorough washes
Shampoo appropriate for their coat and skin
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing
Face and feet tidying
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
Calm one-to-one grooming
DOG TEETH CLEANING CATSFIELD
Alongside professional coat care, Claire provides Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning for dogs visiting Cockapoo Cottage & Friends from Catsfield.
Emmi-pet uses ultrasound together with specialist toothpaste rather than the mechanical brushing or scrubbing action associated with conventional tooth brushing. The system is also quiet during use, fitting well with Claire's calm approach to individual grooming.
Owners who choose teeth cleaning can incorporate it into their dog's wider routine of grooming and oral-hygiene maintenance.
For dogs already visiting Claire regularly, teeth cleaning provides an additional area of ongoing maintenance owners can consider alongside coat and nail care.
The Emmi-pet service offers:
Ultrasonic teeth-cleaning technology
No conventional brushing or scrubbing
Specialist Emmi-pet toothpaste
Quiet operation
Ongoing oral-hygiene maintenance
One-to-one attention from Claire
Please note: Teeth cleaning at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and is not a substitute for veterinary dental treatment. If your dog has signs of dental disease, significant tartar, bleeding or painful gums, loose or damaged teeth, swelling or other concerning symptoms, please seek veterinary advice.
DOG NAIL CLIPPING CATSFIELD
How often a dog needs their nails clipped depends partly on the dog themselves and partly on how much natural wear their everyday activity provides.
Claire offers Dog Nail Clipping for dogs from Catsfield as part of regular grooming appointments or through smaller maintenance visits where available.
By checking the individual dog's nails, Claire can provide trimming where it's needed rather than assuming nail care must always follow the same schedule as coat grooming.
Some dogs naturally wear their nails more effectively than others, while individual growth rates also differ.
Claire's nail-care approach can include:
Checking current nail length
Careful clipping where required
Nail checks alongside regular grooms
Smaller nail-maintenance appointments where available
Patient one-to-one handling
Ongoing monitoring over future visits
DOG SPA TREATMENTS CATSFIELD
A trip to the groomers can take care of your dog's practical coat needs while also including a little extra care.
For dogs travelling from Catsfield, Claire offers Signature Spa and additional grooming treatments that can complement her core grooming services and personalise the appointment further.
Owners can choose from the available treatments according to their dog's coat and the service being booked, with Claire able to advise on appropriate options.
Optional treatments can add further coat care, finishing touches or pampering while your dog remains in Claire's one-to-one grooming environment.
Options can include:
Signature Spa treatments
Additional coat-care options
Grooming extras
Finishing touches
Products chosen for the individual dog
Smaller maintenance treatments
Individual care with Claire
DOG FACIAL, FEET & PAW TIDYING CATSFIELD
Not every grooming visit needs to involve the whole coat. Sometimes it's the hair around the face, feet or paws that needs attention while the rest of your dog's existing groom remains perfectly manageable.
Claire provides facial, feet, paw and sanitary tidying for dogs travelling from Catsfield, allowing these specific areas to be maintained without automatically carrying out another Full Groom.
These smaller treatments can help keep your dog's existing style looking neat until a complete grooming appointment is genuinely needed.
Where the main body of the coat can be left alone, Claire can concentrate on individual areas requiring maintenance.
This can include:
Facial trimming and tidying
Tidying around the face where appropriate
Feet and paw trimming
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
Additional smaller grooming treatments
Advice for maintaining the coat between appointments
NERVOUS DOG GROOMING CATSFIELD
For a dog who finds grooming unsettling, the surroundings in which their appointment takes place can be just as important as the grooming service itself.
Claire welcomes nervous and anxious dogs from Catsfield to Cockapoo Cottage & Friends in Battle, where she works one-to-one rather than grooming several dogs around each other in a busy salon.
Having the individual dog as her focus allows Claire to pay attention to their reactions, use patient handling and adapt the groom where appropriate. Returning to Claire regularly can also give nervous dogs an opportunity to become more familiar with both their groomer and the cottage environment.
While every nervous dog responds differently, reducing additional activity around the appointment can provide a calmer environment for professional grooming.
Claire's approach offers:
One-to-one grooming appointments
A peaceful cottage environment
No busy multi-dog waiting area
Patient, individual handling
An approach adapted to the dog's response
Consistency with the same groomer
Familiar surroundings on return visits
Claire's focused attention throughout

Yes. Claire offers gentle Puppy Grooming to help introduce young dogs to professional grooming from an early age. Puppy appointments are designed to build familiarity with handling, brushing, bathing, drying and grooming equipment in a calm, positive environment.
We have two Puppy Packages; a Small Breed and a Medium Breed package. Please visit our Puppy Pricing or contact Claire for personalised advice.
I recommend introducing puppies to grooming as early as possible, ideally once they are fully vaccinated and able to go on walks
— usually around 3 to 4 months of age.
The earlier your puppy begins their grooming journey, the easier and more positive the experience is likely to be for them in the
future. Early introductions help puppies become familiar with bathing, drying, brushing, handling, and the sounds and sensations
involved in grooming.
I ideally like to see puppies every 2–3 weeks during their first 6 months, allowing me to gently build their confidence and help them
become relaxed, happy, and comfortable with the grooming process at their own pace.
My calm, one-to-one approach focuses on creating positive experiences filled with patience, reassurance, cuddles, and gentle
handling — helping your puppy grow into a confident little salon visitor for years to come.
Yes. Claire offers Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning to support your dog's ongoing oral hygiene. The system uses ultrasonic technology with specialist toothpaste and works without conventional mechanical brushing or scrubbing.
Dog teeth cleaning is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and does not replace veterinary dental treatment.
Yes. Claire offers Dog Bath & Tidy appointments for dogs that need bathing, brushing and freshening up without another complete haircut. A Bath & Tidy can also include nail clipping and tidying around the face, feet and sanitary areas where needed, helping keep your dog's coat clean, comfortable and manageable between Full Grooms.
Yes. Claire also offers smaller grooming treatments including dog nail clipping and face, feet, paw and sanitary tidying, helping keep your dog comfortable and well maintained between larger grooming appointments.
Absolutely. We specialise in calm, one-to-one grooming and take time to help anxious dogs feel comfortable. Let's book a meet and greet and discuss your dog's needs further.
Every dog is different, so grooming times can vary depending on your dog’s coat condition, temperament, age, and individual
needs.
As a general guide:
Bath & Tidy Appointments / Puppy Intro Sessions: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
Full Grooms & Premium Pamper Appointments: approximately 2.5 to 4 hours
I work on a calm, one-to-one basis and never rush appointments. Some dogs are naturally relaxed and enjoy the grooming
process, while others — particularly elderly, anxious, or nervous dogs — may need additional comfort breaks, rest periods, reassurance, or extra time to settle.
Your dog’s comfort and wellbeing will always be far more important to me than rushing through an appointment.
As soon as your dog’s groom is completed, I will contact you to arrange collection.
Please kindly avoid arriving early or waiting outside the salon, as many dogs become excited when they see their owners and this can increase anxiety or make it difficult for them to settle and finish their groom calmly.
You can also check out our Places to Visit page to explore the lovely historic town of Battle if you choose to do so.
Your dog’s comfort, health, and wellbeing will always come first. Severely matted coats can be extremely uncomfortable and, in
some cases, painful for dogs, often pulling tightly on the skin and restricting airflow.
For this reason, heavily matted coats may need to be clipped short or fully shaved in the interest of your dog’s welfare.
Please note that de-matting is not included within the standard grooming price and is charged at £1 per minute. This additional fee
helps cover the extra time required, along with the increased wear and tear placed on grooming equipment.
Many breeds — particularly curly and long-coated breeds such as Cockapoos — are naturally prone to matting and require regular
brushing and coat maintenance at home between grooming appointments.
Where possible, I will always try to preserve your dog’s coat. However, under the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act, prolonged
or severe matting can be considered a welfare issue and removing the coat may sometimes be the kindest and safest option.
I will always discuss this with you fully before proceeding and gain your consent prior to clipping or shaving a matted coat. I am also
happy to offer advice on home grooming routines, brushing techniques, and future coat maintenance to help achieve the style and
coat condition you would like for your dog.
Please note that severely matted dogs may require additional time and, in some cases, more than one grooming appointment.
