FULL DOG GROOMING SEDLESCOMBE
For dogs travelling from Sedlescombe, Claire provides Full Dog Grooming at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends in Battle, combining complete coat care with a finished style chosen for the individual dog.
A dog's grooming requirements can change according to their breed, coat texture, condition, lifestyle and even the length an owner is comfortable maintaining at home.
Claire takes these factors into account before deciding how best to approach each groom.
From the first wash through to the final trim, your dog receives Claire's individual attention in her peaceful, one-to-one grooming cottage.
A Full Groom isn't simply about making a coat shorter. Claire prepares and works with the whole coat before creating a finish appropriate for your dog and your preferences.
Your dog's appointment can include:
Two thorough washes using appropriate grooming products
Warm blow drying
Complete brushing and coat preparation
Nail clipping
Face, feet and sanitary trimming
Full haircut and styling
A finish suited to the individual coat
One-to-one grooming with Claire
PUPPY GROOMING SEDLESCOMBE
A puppy's first professional groom doesn't need to begin with a big haircut. For puppies from Sedlescombe, Claire offers Puppy Grooming focused on introducing the different parts of grooming in a calm and manageable way.
At Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, puppies can become familiar with Claire and her grooming cottage while experiencing new things such as brushing, bathing, drying and handling.
Because Claire works one-to-one, she can pay attention to how each puppy responds and allow their early grooming experiences to develop around the individual puppy rather than a busy salon schedule.
For breeds requiring regular grooming as adults, introducing professional coat care while they're young can help make the process more familiar.
Puppy appointments can introduce:
Gentle brushing and handling
Professional bathing
Warm blow drying
Standing on a grooming table
Grooming equipment and sounds
Face, feet and paw handling
Nail handling
Getting to know Claire
Becoming familiar with regular grooming visits
DOG BATH & TIDY SEDLESCOMBE
Sometimes your dog's coat needs a proper refresh long before it's ready for another complete haircut.
Claire's Dog Bath & Tidy service gives dogs from Sedlescombe the option of professional bathing, drying, brushing and essential tidying between Full Grooms.
Rather than changing the overall hairstyle unnecessarily, Claire can maintain the existing coat while concentrating on cleanliness and the smaller areas that have begun to need attention.
A Bath & Tidy can help keep a regular grooming routine on track without repeating a complete haircut every time your dog visits.
Depending on your dog's needs, the appointment can include:
Two thorough washes
Shampoo appropriate for their coat and skin
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing
Face and feet tidying
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
One-to-one care throughout
DOG TEETH CLEANING SEDLESCOMBE
Dogs visiting from Sedlescombe can also receive Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning with Claire at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends.
The system combines ultrasound with specialist Emmi-pet toothpaste and operates without the conventional mechanical brushing or scrubbing action of a standard toothbrush. It is also quiet during use, fitting naturally within Claire's calmer approach to grooming.
For owners who choose to include teeth cleaning in their dog's routine, it can sit alongside regular coat and nail maintenance as another aspect of ongoing grooming and oral-hygiene care.
Emmi-pet offers a different method from conventional tooth brushing while allowing oral-hygiene maintenance to become part of your dog's wider care routine.
The service provides:
Emmi-pet ultrasonic technology
No conventional brushing or scrubbing
Specialist Emmi-pet toothpaste
Quiet operation
Ongoing oral-hygiene maintenance
Individual attention from Claire
Please note: Teeth cleaning at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and is not a substitute for veterinary dental treatment. If your dog has signs of dental disease, significant tartar, bleeding or painful gums, loose or damaged teeth, swelling or other concerning symptoms, please seek veterinary advice.
DOG NAIL CLIPPING SEDLESCOMBE
Dogs don't all wear their nails down at the same rate, so Dog Nail Clipping is best considered according to the individual dog rather than automatically following the timing of their haircut.
Claire can check and clip nails for dogs travelling from Sedlescombe during a regular grooming appointment or through a smaller maintenance visit where available.
Regular checks mean attention can be given when it's needed, whether your dog naturally wears their nails well or requires more frequent professional maintenance.
The amount of natural wear a dog gets can vary with their lifestyle, activity and the surfaces they regularly walk on.
Claire's nail care can include:
Individual nail-length checks
Careful clipping where required
Nail maintenance during regular grooms
Smaller appointments where available
Patient one-to-one handling
Ongoing monitoring as part of regular grooming care
DOG SPA TREATMENTS SEDLESCOMBE
For Sedlescombe owners who would like their dog's grooming appointment to include some additional coat care or pampering, Claire offers Signature Spa and additional grooming treatments.
These extras can complement your dog's usual grooming service and provide an opportunity to personalise their visit with additional treatments and finishing touches.
Claire can help you choose from the options available according to your dog's individual coat and the type of appointment they are having.
Additional treatments can be selected alongside your dog's core grooming service rather than every dog automatically receiving the same extras.
Options can include:
Signature Spa treatments
Additional coat-care options
Grooming extras
Finishing touches
Products selected for the individual dog
Smaller maintenance treatments
Claire's one-to-one attention
DOG FACIAL, FEET & PAW TIDYING SEDLESCOMBE
If your dog's main coat still looks good but the finer details are starting to lose their shape, a smaller grooming treatment may be all that's required.
Claire provides facial, feet, paw and sanitary tidying for dogs from Sedlescombe, focusing on individual areas without unnecessarily carrying out another complete haircut.
This can help maintain the appearance of your dog's existing groom and keep quicker-growing areas neat until their next larger appointment.
Where appropriate, Claire can concentrate on specific areas while leaving the main length and style of your dog's coat intact.
Smaller grooming treatments can include:
Facial trimming and tidying
Tidying around the face where appropriate
Feet and paw trimming
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
Additional grooming extras
Advice for coat maintenance between appointments
NERVOUS DOG GROOMING SEDLESCOMBE
For dogs who are unsure about grooming, having one groomer focused on them in a quieter setting can provide a very different experience from being surrounded by several dogs and the activity of a busy salon.
Claire welcomes nervous and anxious dogs from Sedlescombe to Cockapoo Cottage & Friends, where appointments are provided one-to-one in her peaceful grooming cottage in Battle.
This allows Claire to get to know the individual dog, watch how they respond throughout the groom and adjust her handling where appropriate. Returning regularly also gives dogs the opportunity to become familiar with Claire, the cottage and the grooming routine.
Some dogs are particularly sensitive to unfamiliar people, sounds or surroundings. Claire's setup allows for greater consistency from one appointment to the next.
Dogs can benefit from:
One-to-one appointments with Claire
A peaceful cottage environment
No busy multi-dog waiting area
Patient, individual handling
An approach responsive to the dog
The same groomer on repeat visits
Familiar surroundings over time
Claire's focused attention throughout

Yes. Claire offers gentle Puppy Grooming to help introduce young dogs to professional grooming from an early age. Puppy appointments are designed to build familiarity with handling, brushing, bathing, drying and grooming equipment in a calm, positive environment.
We have two Puppy Packages; a Small Breed and a Medium Breed package. Please visit our Puppy Pricing or contact Claire for personalised advice.
I recommend introducing puppies to grooming as early as possible, ideally once they are fully vaccinated and able to go on walks
— usually around 3 to 4 months of age.
The earlier your puppy begins their grooming journey, the easier and more positive the experience is likely to be for them in the
future. Early introductions help puppies become familiar with bathing, drying, brushing, handling, and the sounds and sensations
involved in grooming.
I ideally like to see puppies every 2–3 weeks during their first 6 months, allowing me to gently build their confidence and help them
become relaxed, happy, and comfortable with the grooming process at their own pace.
My calm, one-to-one approach focuses on creating positive experiences filled with patience, reassurance, cuddles, and gentle
handling — helping your puppy grow into a confident little salon visitor for years to come.
Yes. Claire offers Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning to support your dog's ongoing oral hygiene. The system uses ultrasonic technology with specialist toothpaste and works without conventional mechanical brushing or scrubbing.
Dog teeth cleaning is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and does not replace veterinary dental treatment.
Yes. Claire offers Dog Bath & Tidy appointments for dogs that need bathing, brushing and freshening up without another complete haircut. A Bath & Tidy can also include nail clipping and tidying around the face, feet and sanitary areas where needed, helping keep your dog's coat clean, comfortable and manageable between Full Grooms.
Yes. Claire also offers smaller grooming treatments including dog nail clipping and face, feet, paw and sanitary tidying, helping keep your dog comfortable and well maintained between larger grooming appointments.
Absolutely. We specialise in calm, one-to-one grooming and take time to help anxious dogs feel comfortable. Let's book a meet and greet and discuss your dog's needs further.
Every dog is different, so grooming times can vary depending on your dog’s coat condition, temperament, age, and individual
needs.
As a general guide:
Bath & Tidy Appointments / Puppy Intro Sessions: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
Full Grooms & Premium Pamper Appointments: approximately 2.5 to 4 hours
I work on a calm, one-to-one basis and never rush appointments. Some dogs are naturally relaxed and enjoy the grooming
process, while others — particularly elderly, anxious, or nervous dogs — may need additional comfort breaks, rest periods, reassurance, or extra time to settle.
Your dog’s comfort and wellbeing will always be far more important to me than rushing through an appointment.
As soon as your dog’s groom is completed, I will contact you to arrange collection.
Please kindly avoid arriving early or waiting outside the salon, as many dogs become excited when they see their owners and this can increase anxiety or make it difficult for them to settle and finish their groom calmly.
You can also check out our Places to Visit page to explore the lovely historic town of Battle if you choose to do so.
Your dog’s comfort, health, and wellbeing will always come first. Severely matted coats can be extremely uncomfortable and, in
some cases, painful for dogs, often pulling tightly on the skin and restricting airflow.
For this reason, heavily matted coats may need to be clipped short or fully shaved in the interest of your dog’s welfare.
Please note that de-matting is not included within the standard grooming price and is charged at £1 per minute. This additional fee
helps cover the extra time required, along with the increased wear and tear placed on grooming equipment.
Many breeds — particularly curly and long-coated breeds such as Cockapoos — are naturally prone to matting and require regular
brushing and coat maintenance at home between grooming appointments.
Where possible, I will always try to preserve your dog’s coat. However, under the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act, prolonged
or severe matting can be considered a welfare issue and removing the coat may sometimes be the kindest and safest option.
I will always discuss this with you fully before proceeding and gain your consent prior to clipping or shaving a matted coat. I am also
happy to offer advice on home grooming routines, brushing techniques, and future coat maintenance to help achieve the style and
coat condition you would like for your dog.
Please note that severely matted dogs may require additional time and, in some cases, more than one grooming appointment.
