FULL DOG GROOMING CROWHURST
For dogs from Crowhurst who need complete coat care, Claire offers Full Dog Grooming from her peaceful grooming cottage in nearby Battle.
Every dog's coat is different, so Claire considers breed, coat type, texture, condition, lifestyle and the style you'd like before deciding how best to approach the groom. Whether your dog needs a practical shorter trim or you'd prefer to retain more length, the finished groom can be adapted to suit them.
From preparing and cleaning the coat through to the final haircut, your dog receives Claire's individual attention throughout their appointment.
Rather than following exactly the same grooming pattern for every dog, Claire can tailor both the coat preparation and finished style to what is appropriate for the dog in front of her.
A Full Groom can include:
Two thorough washes using suitable grooming products
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing and coat preparation
Nail clipping
Face, feet and sanitary trimming
Full haircut and styling
A finish tailored to coat type and lifestyle
Calm, one-to-one attention from Claire
PUPPY GROOMING CROWHURST
For puppies from Crowhurst, their first visits to a groomer can be an opportunity to discover professional grooming gradually, before they need the longer appointments associated with maintaining an adult coat.
Claire's Puppy Grooming introduces young dogs to her, the grooming cottage and some of the sights, sounds and sensations they'll encounter during future appointments.
With one-to-one attention, Claire can work with the puppy in front of her and help them become more familiar with grooming at an early stage.
Starting early gives a puppy the opportunity to encounter individual parts of the grooming process while they're still learning about new experiences.
Puppy Grooming can introduce:
Gentle brushing and coat handling
Bathing
Warm blow drying
The grooming table
Grooming tools and their sounds
Face, feet and paw handling
Nail handling
One-to-one time with Claire
Familiarity with regular grooming visits
DOG BATH & TIDY CROWHURST
Living around the East Sussex countryside can mean plenty of opportunities for dogs to come home looking considerably less clean than when they left.
When your dog's coat needs professional attention but isn't yet ready for another complete haircut, Claire's Dog Bath & Tidy provides a useful maintenance appointment between Full Grooms.
Dogs visiting from Crowhurst can have their coat professionally washed, dried and brushed, while smaller areas can be tidied where required without unnecessarily changing the overall style.
A Bath & Tidy concentrates on coat condition, cleanliness and the areas that become untidy first, helping bridge the gap between complete grooming appointments.
Depending on your dog's needs, this can include:
Two thorough washes
Shampoo appropriate for the individual coat and skin
Warm blow drying
Thorough brushing
Face and feet tidying
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
One-to-one grooming with Claire
DOG TEETH CLEANING CROWHURST
Claire also provides Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning for dogs travelling from Crowhurst, allowing owners to consider oral hygiene alongside their dog's regular grooming care.
Emmi-pet uses ultrasonic technology together with specialist toothpaste and works without conventional mechanical brushing or scrubbing. Its quiet operation also makes it well suited to Claire's calm, one-to-one grooming environment.
For owners choosing ongoing teeth cleaning, appointments can become another part of their dog's wider maintenance routine alongside coat and nail care.
Emmi-pet provides an alternative approach to conventional tooth brushing for owners looking to maintain their dog's oral hygiene.
Claire's service offers:
Emmi-pet ultrasonic technology
No conventional brushing or scrubbing
Specialist Emmi-pet toothpaste
Quiet operation
Ongoing oral-hygiene maintenance
Individual attention from Claire
Please note: Teeth cleaning at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and is not a substitute for veterinary dental treatment. If your dog has signs of dental disease, significant tartar, bleeding or painful gums, loose or damaged teeth, swelling or other concerning symptoms, please seek veterinary advice.
DOG NAIL CLIPPING CROWHURST
Your dog's nails don't necessarily follow the same timetable as their coat. Some dogs naturally wear their nails down through walking and everyday activity, while others need them professionally trimmed more frequently.
Claire provides Dog Nail Clipping for dogs from Crowhurst as part of regular grooming appointments or through smaller maintenance visits where available.
Checking the individual dog's nails allows Claire to provide attention when it's actually needed rather than automatically clipping them according to a fixed schedule.
How quickly nails grow and how much natural wear they receive varies from dog to dog.
Nail care can include:
Checking current nail length
Careful clipping where required
Nail checks during regular grooms
Smaller maintenance visits where available
Patient, individual handling
Ongoing monitoring between appointments
DOG SPA TREATMENTS CROWHURST
For owners from Crowhurst who would like to add a little more to their dog's regular groom, Claire offers Signature Spa and additional grooming treatments at Cockapoo Cottage & Friends.
These optional extras can complement the main grooming service you've chosen, providing additional coat care, finishing treatments or simply a little extra pampering during your dog's appointment.
Claire can help you choose appropriate options according to your dog's coat and individual grooming needs.
Additional treatments give you the flexibility to personalise your dog's visit rather than every appointment following exactly the same package.
Options can include:
Signature Spa treatments
Additional coat-care options
Grooming extras
Finishing touches
Products appropriate for the individual dog
Smaller maintenance treatments
One-to-one attention from Claire
DOG GROOMING MAINTENANCE CROWHURST
Sometimes your dog's main coat can comfortably wait until their next Full Groom while the hair around their face, feet or paws starts to look untidy much sooner.
Claire offers facial, feet, paw and sanitary tidying for dogs from Crowhurst, allowing these smaller areas to receive attention without unnecessarily restyling the entire coat.
These targeted treatments can be particularly useful for maintaining the neat finish of an existing groom between larger appointments.
Where another Full Groom isn't yet necessary, Claire can focus specifically on the parts of your dog's coat that need attention.
Smaller grooming treatments can include:
Facial trimming and tidying
Tidying around the face where appropriate
Feet and paw trimming
Sanitary trimming
Nail clipping
Additional grooming extras
Advice for maintaining the coat between appointments
NERVOUS DOG GROOMING CROWHURST
For a nervous or sensitive dog, choosing a groomer can be about much more than simply finding the closest salon.
Claire welcomes nervous and anxious dogs from Crowhurst to her peaceful grooming cottage in Battle, where appointments are provided one-to-one rather than alongside several other dogs.
This quieter setup allows Claire to concentrate on the individual dog, observe how they're responding and adjust her handling where appropriate. Dogs returning regularly can also become familiar with Claire, the cottage and the routine of their appointments.
Every nervous dog is different, but reducing some of the additional activity surrounding their groom can create a more individual experience.
Claire's approach provides:
One-to-one grooming appointments
A peaceful cottage-style environment
No busy multi-dog waiting area
Patient, individual handling
An approach responsive to your dog
Consistency with the same groomer
Familiar surroundings on repeat visits
Claire's focused attention throughout

Yes. Claire offers gentle Puppy Grooming to help introduce young dogs to professional grooming from an early age. Puppy appointments are designed to build familiarity with handling, brushing, bathing, drying and grooming equipment in a calm, positive environment.
We have two Puppy Packages; a Small Breed and a Medium Breed package. Please visit our Puppy Pricing or contact Claire for personalised advice.
I recommend introducing puppies to grooming as early as possible, ideally once they are fully vaccinated and able to go on walks
— usually around 3 to 4 months of age.
The earlier your puppy begins their grooming journey, the easier and more positive the experience is likely to be for them in the
future. Early introductions help puppies become familiar with bathing, drying, brushing, handling, and the sounds and sensations
involved in grooming.
I ideally like to see puppies every 2–3 weeks during their first 6 months, allowing me to gently build their confidence and help them
become relaxed, happy, and comfortable with the grooming process at their own pace.
My calm, one-to-one approach focuses on creating positive experiences filled with patience, reassurance, cuddles, and gentle
handling — helping your puppy grow into a confident little salon visitor for years to come.
Yes. Claire offers Emmi-pet ultrasonic Dog Teeth Cleaning to support your dog's ongoing oral hygiene. The system uses ultrasonic technology with specialist toothpaste and works without conventional mechanical brushing or scrubbing.
Dog teeth cleaning is a grooming and oral-hygiene service and does not replace veterinary dental treatment.
Yes. Claire offers Dog Bath & Tidy appointments for dogs that need bathing, brushing and freshening up without another complete haircut. A Bath & Tidy can also include nail clipping and tidying around the face, feet and sanitary areas where needed, helping keep your dog's coat clean, comfortable and manageable between Full Grooms.
Yes. Claire also offers smaller grooming treatments including dog nail clipping and face, feet, paw and sanitary tidying, helping keep your dog comfortable and well maintained between larger grooming appointments.
Absolutely. We specialise in calm, one-to-one grooming and take time to help anxious dogs feel comfortable. Let's book a meet and greet and discuss your dog's needs further.
Every dog is different, so grooming times can vary depending on your dog’s coat condition, temperament, age, and individual
needs.
As a general guide:
Bath & Tidy Appointments / Puppy Intro Sessions: approximately 1.5 to 2 hours
Full Grooms & Premium Pamper Appointments: approximately 2.5 to 4 hours
I work on a calm, one-to-one basis and never rush appointments. Some dogs are naturally relaxed and enjoy the grooming
process, while others — particularly elderly, anxious, or nervous dogs — may need additional comfort breaks, rest periods, reassurance, or extra time to settle.
Your dog’s comfort and wellbeing will always be far more important to me than rushing through an appointment.
As soon as your dog’s groom is completed, I will contact you to arrange collection.
Please kindly avoid arriving early or waiting outside the salon, as many dogs become excited when they see their owners and this can increase anxiety or make it difficult for them to settle and finish their groom calmly.
You can also check out our Places to Visit page to explore the lovely historic town of Battle if you choose to do so.
Your dog’s comfort, health, and wellbeing will always come first. Severely matted coats can be extremely uncomfortable and, in
some cases, painful for dogs, often pulling tightly on the skin and restricting airflow.
For this reason, heavily matted coats may need to be clipped short or fully shaved in the interest of your dog’s welfare.
Please note that de-matting is not included within the standard grooming price and is charged at £1 per minute. This additional fee
helps cover the extra time required, along with the increased wear and tear placed on grooming equipment.
Many breeds — particularly curly and long-coated breeds such as Cockapoos — are naturally prone to matting and require regular
brushing and coat maintenance at home between grooming appointments.
Where possible, I will always try to preserve your dog’s coat. However, under the guidelines of the Animal Welfare Act, prolonged
or severe matting can be considered a welfare issue and removing the coat may sometimes be the kindest and safest option.
I will always discuss this with you fully before proceeding and gain your consent prior to clipping or shaving a matted coat. I am also
happy to offer advice on home grooming routines, brushing techniques, and future coat maintenance to help achieve the style and
coat condition you would like for your dog.
Please note that severely matted dogs may require additional time and, in some cases, more than one grooming appointment.
